Yule is a celebration of the Winter Solstice which happens on December 21st. It marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. It was a time when our ancestors would celebrate together to keep up their spirits and to honor the reborn sun. We will honor abundance and protection from the deprivations of Winter this year as well as wassail an orchard like the old days.
We will be honoring a number of deities for our Yule rite. We will be honoring the Vanir, the Norse deities of agriculture, abundance, wealth, and magic. This includes Njörðr, Skaði, Freyja, Freyr, and Nerþus. We will also be honoring our patroness Urðr, goddess of fate. This is a great opportunity to experience and get to know these amazing deities.
