Freysblót or the Atumn Equinoxis the modern Norse Pagan form of the Wiccan Autumnal holiday of Mabon. This is a time where many people honor Freyr as god of harvest and peace, as well as his role as King of Alfheim. This also involves worship for the elves: the Faeries and ancestors in the land. Our grove celebrates this year with a focus on protection and the watchman of Asgard: Heimdallr.
Heimdall or Heimdallr is an Aesir god of Asgard. He is said to be the son of 9 mothers and the orderer of human society for the ancient Norse. He is the guardian of the Bifrost bidge and the gates of Asgard, protecting the gods from their enemies. He holds the mighty Gjallarhorn which will be blown when Ragnarok begins; the end of times in the Norse cosmology. He is known by many modern Pagans and is noted for a love of coffee. We will be offering him coffee and partaking ourselves as we ask this guardian deity for his protection through Winter.
